Approaches To Parent Involvement In Early Childhood Education ...

Research has it that parent involvement in early childhood education is very important in the emotional, cognitive, academic and the overall achievement of a child. Children who spend some time reading with their next of kin at home have better reading skills and perform better academically. Right from the time a child goes to kindergarten classes the guardian should walk with them at school.

Schools have the upper hand in ensuring that the family members are actively involved with their kids in school. Teachers should try and know close relatives of their pupils up close. Teachers can capitalize on this bond because if a close relative genuinely sees that a teacher is interested in their child, then they would go an extra mile to ensure that it stays that way for the sake of their offspring.

Constant communicating is a good sign. Communication should involve the one way and two-way. Two-way in that the teacher and care giver can talk about the child freely and discuss on how to improve it. One way communication is used to pass information that a school thinks the parents should have.

Celebrating the children achievements is a very good way to keep the bond alive. You can create portfolios or even scrap books containing the children?s achievements. The guardians can visit the classrooms on school events and get to see their children?s work and achievements. This elicits excitement and more concern from the guardians.

Flexibility in scheduling school events is very vital for the intended people to attend. For a blood relative who is too busy, the school can always schedule home visits, make phone calls updating them on the child?s progress in order to keep them at bay.

parent involvement in early childhood education is highly recommended. Schools that help out the next of kin achieve this facilitate in reducing stress on families in raising their children. Teachers help the family member in learning what is going on with their children as they keep the communication alive.
